The Short Version

We collect only what we need to run Jotunheim. We don’t sell your data. We don’t track you with cookies. We don’t run analytics. If you want your data deleted, ask us and we’ll take care of it.

1. Who We Are

Jotunheim is a Valheim gaming community operated by Nashwind LLC, a Wisconsin limited liability company. When we say “we,” “us,” or “our” in this policy, we mean Nashwind LLC.

2. Data We Collect

Identity

We collect your Discord ID, username, and avatar (via Discord login), your Steam ID (from your whitelist application), and your in-game player name(s) and aliases. We use this to identify you, link your accounts, and manage game server access.

Game Activity

We collect gameplay data from the Valheim server, including but not limited to: session times, player positions, in-game chat, and gameplay statistics and events (such as achievements, kills, progression, and event participation). We use this to operate the server, power community features, and support moderation.

Community Activity

We collect Discord server activity such as messages, roles, and presence. We use this to manage the community and support moderation.

Financial

We store your Rune balance, transaction history, Stripe customer ID, subscription details, and purchase records. We use this to process payments and manage the virtual economy.

Technical

We may collect your IP address from server connections. We use this to enforce bans and protect server security.

3. Cookies

We use three cookies on our website, all strictly functional:

  • jotun_token — Authentication session (7-day expiry, HttpOnly)
  • jotun_nav — Display data for navigation (username, avatar)
  • jotun_next — Temporary post-login redirect (5-minute expiry)

That’s it. No tracking cookies. No analytics cookies. No advertising cookies. No third-party cookies.

4. Why We Collect Your Data

  • Legitimate interest: Operating the game server, managing the community, moderating behavior, enforcing bans
  • Contract performance: Processing purchases, delivering virtual goods, managing subscriptions
  • Consent: When you agree to our Terms of Service and use our Services

5. Third Parties

We share data with these service providers:

  • Stripe processes payments. They receive your payment information directly — we never see your full card number. See Stripe’s Privacy Policy.
  • Discord provides authentication and hosts our community. We receive your Discord ID, username, avatar, and server activity through OAuth and bot integration. See Discord’s Privacy Policy.
  • Ko-fi processes donations and subscriptions. They receive your payment information directly. See Ko-fi’s Privacy Policy.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with anyone else.

6. Data Retention

  • Account data: Retained while your account is active, or until you request deletion.
  • Game activity and chat logs: Retained indefinitely. Chat logs are communal records involving multiple participants and are used for moderation.
  • Purchase and transaction records: Retained indefinitely for financial record-keeping.
  • Banned player data: Retained indefinitely to enforce bans and prevent evasion, even after a deletion request.

7. Your Rights

  • Access: You can ask us what data we have about you.
  • Deletion: You can request deletion of your account and personal data. We will respond within 30 days. Chat logs will be anonymized (your name replaced, messages preserved for context) rather than fully deleted. Banned player identifiers may be retained to enforce bans.
  • Portability: You can request a copy of your data in a common format.

8. Children’s Privacy

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under the age of digital consent in your country (13–16 depending on jurisdiction), you must have your parent or guardian’s permission to use our Services.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal data without your consent, please contact us and we will delete it, subject to the same retention exceptions described in section 7 (such as data necessary for ban enforcement).

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced via our Discord server with at least 14 days’ notice before taking effect. Continued use of our Services after such notice constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
