Note: This guide will be updated after each major content update to account for relevant changes.

This is a community server, meaning that there are a lot of players and it will feel very different from playing in a solo world. Some changes have to be made to support the massive number of players that keeps growing.

This also means that the way of progression and getting resources is very different than in a solo game, so to get to what you need, you might need to interact with other players!

After you’re whitelisted, it’s also important that you switch on your notifications and read all of the recent posts in the #announcements and #aesir-whispers channels in Discord. There may be special rules or tweaks set for the current seed that you’ll want to be made aware of.

A seed is the map that the server hosts for a designated time period. On Jotunheim, seeds are normally reset with the release of every major game update, such as a new biome or NPC. When this happens, everyone’s characters get reset and a new map is introduced.

It is not possible to bring over any items or skills from the previous seed into the new one. This is an exciting time that most players look forward to, because it means that they get to experience new game content and explore an entirely new world!

You can disappear for up to 30 days without notice and your base will be safe. After 30 days, if you have not played, your base can be deleted and the terrain around it reset.

If the base is determined at Admin discretion to be valuable for some purpose, it may be saved with all resources and materials deleted, just left as an empty beautiful art piece.

If you know you will be gone for longer than 30 days, please let us know. We can only hold a base for up to 90 days. For extended absences, please use #support-tickets to create a ticket informing staff of all your bases and expected return date.

In-Game Communication:

• Press Enter to open/close the chat
• Type /s before your message to “shout”, so everyone in-game can see it
• If you type normally, only the people close to you can see your message
• Press PageUp/PageDown with the chat open to scroll
• If you need help, don’t hesitate to shout out—players are friendly!

Discord Halls:

• Check announcement channels for server updates and events
• Open a ticket in #support-tickets when you need staff help
• Use voice channels to hang out and coordinate with fellow Vikings
• Keep it family-friendly; inappropriate content will be removed

Night Spawns:

• Safe Zone: 2800m around spawn—no night spawns there
• Boss kills update your personal night spawn set
• You may face another player’s night spawn if you’re near them

Tamed Animals:

• Do not take tamed animals without permission—report wandering ones via ticket
• Keep your tamed animals confined; roaming animals will be culled

Valheim worlds have limited resources. We share the same world, so shortages can happen. To mitigate:

• Work together—players often trade or guide you to spawn points
• Admins regularly replenish depleted nodes at random intervals
• Custom code restores dungeons, crypts, villages, etc.
• Bees and beehives respawn in Dvergr Villages and trees
• Admins can restore trees/stumps unless fully removed
• Dig carefully around ore to reveal full veins

Building on Resources:

Do not build on: Copper, Tin, Iron, Silver, Obsidian, Burial Chambers, Crypts, Villages, Fuling Camps, Troll Caves, Tar Pits, Dragon Eggs, Giant Bones/Armor/Weapons.

Exception: actively harvesting a node is allowed. If in doubt, ask staff.

Sailing Guidelines:

• Boats: break down with a hammer to prevent theft
• If a bridge blocks your boat, you may raise it slightly—then ticket staff
• You get one free Karve; if lost, you cannot claim another
• Boats have 1.2× health; you can break empty boats/carts with a hammer

Portal System:

• Server Portal Hub at spawn connects spawn and Waystations
• Unlock Waystation portals by visiting them; one free unlock per seed
• 20 Waystations total—Inner, Middle, Outer rings; one portal hut per player/group

• Credit for boss kill if within 80m of the event
• Powers come from sacrificial stones hidden in the world—ticket staff when mounted
• Trader NPCs (e.g., Haldor) unlock items/spells via boss/miniboss kills

Press F5 and type pos to get X (latitude), Y (altitude), Z (longitude).

Center (spawn) is X=0 Z=0. Use these coordinates when reporting locations to staff or other players.

Do not build on or within 32m of Dungeons, Crypts, Caves, Villages, etc. Builds will be destroyed without compensation. Repeat offenders banned.

If you find an abandoned base, open a ticket with screenshot & coordinates first.

Islands with giant “X” pieces are reserved—do not enter or build there.

Tips: Meadows are best for new bases. Avoid high instance areas. Use trenches, walls, shoreline, or islands for defense.

Essential Commands:

• F2: Online players list
• F5: Console—commands like help, die, pos, resetspawn, bind, portalcount

Discord slash commands:

• /my-spells
• /price-check
• /link-socials

Gold is main currency. Trade at Market stalls or Pop-Up Shop. Never throw items during trades. Use carts or trading chests.

Regular Events: Flea Market, Pop-Up Shop, Games, Home Tour, Mini Workshops, Ragnarok, Völur roleplay

Quest System: Staff-run and player-run events. Check Quest Ruin or info boards at spawn. No sharing solutions.

Watch #events channel for announcements and scheduling.

Common reasons: Stealing, unauthorized takeover, cheating, griefing.

To avoid bans: Follow rules or open tickets when uncertain.

Appeal process: Be truthful—evidence required. Contact staff through appropriate channels.
